Understanding the Science

How Does This Work?

This tool simulates visual saliency — a model of where attention is most likely to land in the first seconds of viewing. It scores each region based on cues that reliably pull the eye:

  • Edge Density: Sharp luminance changes create strong visual anchors.
  • Color Contrast: Warm or highly saturated colors stand out against their surroundings.
  • Brightness Contrast: Bright elements against darker backgrounds attract gaze.
  • Center Bias: Viewers tend to scan toward the center first unless a stronger cue exists.

The resulting heatmap is a prediction of where a typical user's gaze would be concentrated in the first few seconds of viewing. Red areas indicate the highest probability of attention.
