Master Your Time with the Pomodoro Technique

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a pomodoro, from the Italian word for 'tomato', after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer its creator used.

  • 1. Choose a Task: Decide on the task to be done.
  • 2. Set the Timer: Start the Pomodoro timer for one work interval (e.g., 25 minutes).
  • 3. Work on the Task: Focus solely on the task until the timer rings. Use the notes section to jot down any distractions to address later.
  • 4. Take a Short Break: When the timer rings, take a short break (e.g., 5 minutes).
  • 5. Repeat & Take Long Breaks: After four pomodoros, take a longer break (e.g., 15-30 minutes) to rest and recharge.
