In this browser
Guest notes and images stay in this browser’s local storage (IndexedDB). They are not sent to our server.
Keep an export of anything important. Clearing site data, changing browsers or losing this device can mean losing the local copy.
In your account
Sign in with an email magic link using your BeginThings account. Account notes and attachments sync through encrypted storage on BeginThings hosting. Reopen the same account in another browser to continue.
This is server-side encryption, not end-to-end encryption. Signed-in note content stays in browser memory, without a persistent cloud-content cache on this device.
If an account save fails: the draft remains in memory while the page stays open. Export it before closing or reloading. Device entries show last successful contact, not confirmation that every note reached another device.
Note content is not used for advertising or analytics. Export or delete notes in the app. Read the BeginNotes privacy details

A few useful details.
What are the image and storage limits?
Attach up to two JPEG or PNG images per note. Each image must be at most 1 MiB after capture compression and at most 4 megapixels. Account storage allows 200 notes and 20 MiB of encoded note and image data; encoding can use more space than the original files.
Is an account or subscription required?
You can start as a guest. Account saving uses BeginThings’ existing email magic-link sign-in. Creating an account also creates the existing BeginThings account and trial records. BeginNotes is free early access independently of any BeginRooms trial or paid plan; no subscription is required.
Can I bring notes from another app?
Copy and paste selected text or links, choose a PNG/JPEG image, or import a text, Markdown or BeginNotes JSON file. Imports are copies. BeginNotes does not automatically access Apple Notes, Google Keep, WhatsApp, personal feeds or saved collections.
Will it sync everything across my apps?
No. Guest notes live in one browser. Account storage belongs to BeginNotes; you can configure selected capture workflows, but they do not keep source copies in two-way sync. A calendar export is a file you choose to import, not a live calendar connection.
Does it include AI, OCR or voice recording?
Early access focuses on notes you write and files you choose. It does not include AI processing, image-to-text recognition or microphone recording. An attached screenshot stays an image.
Can I share directly into BeginNotes on my phone?
Use paste and the file picker for now. An installed app’s availability in Android’s share menu is not a launch promise. Installation and sharing options depend on your browser and device.
