Refund Policy

BeginThings wants you to feel safe buying. Below is the refund framework, written per category so the rules match the kind of product you bought.
Category 1 — Free Tools No purchase, no refund
Tools at /free-tools/ are free to use. There is nothing to refund.
Category 2 — Free with Optional Google Sign-In No purchase, no refund
Workspace 3D and similar Cat 2 tools are free at the base level. If a paid subscription tier is added in the future, this section will be updated with subscription refund rules.
Category 3 — Free Trial then Paid Refund only in narrow cases
FormulaMapper and similar Cat 3 products give a 15-day free trial with no limitations. This is the chance to evaluate the product fully before paying. Because of this:
- License keys are non-refundable once activated. A key is tied to your machine fingerprint and cannot be reissued or transferred.
- Limited exception: If the product genuinely does not work on your specific Excel build after activation, and our support team cannot fix it within 14 days, you are eligible for a full refund. Email sourav@beginthings.com with your machine ID and a description of the issue.
- Mistaken duplicate purchase: If you accidentally bought two licenses for the same machine, the duplicate is fully refundable within 30 days.
Category 4 — Paid Digital Products 7-day refund window
Templates, toolkits, workbooks, and guides on /shop.html are refundable within 7 days of purchase if all of the following are true:
- You contact us within 7 calendar days of the original purchase date.
- The file has not been used in published work, redistributed, or modified for commercial sale.
- You provide the order ID and the email used at checkout.
How to request: email sourav@beginthings.com with subject "Refund request — order #<order id>". We confirm receipt within 2 business days and process refunds within 7 business days via the original payment method. International PayPal refunds may take an additional 3 to 5 business days to clear.
Category 5 — Paid Services Pre-work refundable, post-work scope-dependent
Audits, conversion sprints, and custom development are governed by the engagement-specific scope:
- Before work begins: 100% refundable up to 24 hours after payment, no questions asked.
- After work begins: partial refund proportional to remaining undelivered scope. Discovery sessions, kickoff calls, and initial research are considered delivered and non-refundable.
- After delivery: non-refundable. We will, however, address any quality issues with revisions per the engagement scope.
- Monthly retainers are refundable pro-rata for the unused portion of the current month after notice. Future months are simply cancelled.
Request mechanism: same as Cat 4 above. We work in good faith and prefer to fix issues over refunding, but we will honor refund commitments when revisions cannot resolve the problem.
How to request a refund
- Email sourav@beginthings.com with subject "Refund request — <product or service name>".
- Include the order ID (from your payment processor receipt) and the email address used at checkout.
- Briefly explain the reason. This helps us improve.
- We confirm within 2 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 7 business days to your original payment method.
Chargebacks and disputes
If you have a concern please contact us first; we resolve almost all refund requests amicably. Filing a chargeback with your card or bank without first contacting us may delay the refund and may result in the loss of access to BeginThings products. We document all communications and share them with the payment processor if a dispute is filed.
Exceptions for force majeure
If we are unable to deliver a Cat 4 or Cat 5 product because of force majeure (natural disaster, sustained internet outage in our region, hospitalization, etc.) we will either deliver as soon as we are able, or refund in full, at your choice. We will communicate the situation honestly via email.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Refund eligibility for purchases made before a change is governed by the policy in effect at the time of purchase.
