Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of beginthings.com and the products listed on it (the "Service"), operated by Sourav Mahapatra ("BeginThings", "we", "us"). By accessing the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The 5 product categories

BeginThings offers five distinct categories of products, each with its own terms layered on top of these general Terms:

Category 1: Free Tools

Browser-based utilities at /free-tools/ such as QR Creator, Invoice Generator, UPI QR, calculators, and converters. No account, no signup, no email collection. Provided as-is, free for personal or commercial use. We make no warranty of accuracy, availability, or fitness for purpose. Results should be verified before relying on them for legal, financial, or operational decisions.

Category 2: Free with Optional Google Sign-In

Tools such as Workspace 3D where the base feature set is free and Google Sign-In is optional or required to save state, sync across devices, or unlock collaborative features. By signing in you authorize BeginThings to read your basic Google profile (name, email, profile picture). You can revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com. Some advanced features may require a subscription described on the relevant product page.

Category 3: Free Trial then Paid

Software products such as FormulaMapper that offer a free trial period (currently 15 days, machine-locked) followed by a paid license. Trial usage is unlimited within the trial window. After the trial, a valid license key purchased from BeginThings is required to continue using the product. License keys are tied to the issuing machine fingerprint and are not transferable.

Category 4: Paid Digital Products

One-time-purchase digital downloads such as templates, toolkits, workbooks, and guides. Access is granted after successful payment, usually within 5 minutes via the email address you provided at checkout. Files are delivered as ZIP, PDF, XLSX, DOCX, or similar. License: single-user, non-resale, non-transferable. Refund eligibility per the Refund Policy.

Category 5: Paid Services

Done-for-you services such as landing-page audits, conversion sprints, workspace setup, and custom development. Scope, timeline, and deliverables are defined on the relevant service page or a separate written engagement. Results depend on individual circumstances and are not guaranteed.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source from FormulaMapper or any paid product beyond what is permitted under your jurisdiction's fair-use law.
Redistribute, resell, or sublicense paid products without our written consent.
Probe, scan, or stress-test the Service or attempt to bypass authentication or licensing.
Use automated means to scrape, harvest, or extract content at scale.
Upload or process content that is unlawful, infringing, or contains malware.

3. Intellectual property

BeginThings owns all code, design, branding, copy, and product assets unless otherwise noted. Free tools are free to use, but the underlying code remains our property. Paid products are licensed to the purchaser under a single-user, non-resale, non-transferable license. User-generated content (Workspace 3D files you create, data you enter into free tools) remains your property; we claim no ownership of it.

4. User content and local storage

Workspace 3D, free tools, and FormulaMapper trial state are stored entirely on your device. We do not transmit, store, or back up this data on our servers. You are responsible for backing up your own work. Clearing browser data or uninstalling the software will erase the corresponding local content. The exceptions are paid orders and Cat 5 service engagements, where the contact and order data are stored server-side by our payment processors and ourselves for delivery and accounting.

5. Payment, pricing, and taxes

Prices are listed in Indian Rupees (INR) and may include local equivalents in USD. Payments are processed by Razorpay (India and international cards/UPI/netbanking) and PayPal (international cards and PayPal balance). We do not see or store your card or bank-account details. Indian customers may be charged GST as applicable; international customers are responsible for their own local tax compliance. Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice; existing license keys are not invalidated by price changes.

6. Refunds

Refund eligibility, timelines, and request mechanics are described in the Refund Policy. Summary: Cat 1 and Cat 2 are free so no refund applies. Cat 3 paid licenses are non-refundable after activation (use the trial to evaluate). Cat 4 digital products are eligible for a 7-day refund window if the file has not been accessed and the value is unused. Cat 5 services are refundable per the engagement-specific scope agreement; non-refundable once work begins.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Free tools and informational content do not constitute legal, financial, tax, accounting, investment, securities, or professional advice. See the Disclaimer for the full statement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BeginThings's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or INR 1,000 if you have paid us nothing. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for breach of these Terms, suspected fraud, or legal requirement. You may stop using the Service at any time; for Cat 2 disconnect by revoking Google access at myaccount.google.com. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as set out in the Refund Policy.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. Continued use after the update constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
