The five things wrong with most freelancer websites
The hero says "Hi, I am [name], a [skill]"
That tells the visitor nothing they could not infer from a Google search. The hero should say what specific outcome you deliver, for whom, and what makes you different from the 200 other freelancers Googling the same thing.
The portfolio shows your work, not the buyer's outcomes
A grid of past projects is a CV, not a sales argument. What the buyer actually wants to see: what was the brief, what changed after you delivered, what would they tell another buyer.
The "About" page is about you, not them
Visitors do not care about your hobbies on the about page. They care whether you are the right freelancer for their situation. Rewrite from "I am" to "you probably need this if". Same word count, completely different effect.
The CTA is "Contact me" or "Let us talk"
Both are friction-heavy. "What is the first step" framing converts better. Try "Book a 15-minute fit call" or "Send a 2-line brief" or "Get a quote in 24 hours". Specific beats friendly.
No proof, or proof that looks made up
One vague testimonial from "Rahul S." with no link or photo damages credibility more than no testimonial. Real freelancers do not have 30 testimonials. Show three real ones with names and links, or show none and explain why.
