How to use this tool
- Enter your date of birth.
- Leave the second date as today, or pick another date to find the age on that day.
- Read your exact age in years, months and days, and the total in months, weeks, days and hours.
- Check how many days remain until your next birthday.
How it works
Age is counted in whole calendar months. From the date of birth we add complete years and months while the result stays on or before the chosen date, then count the remaining days. If a month is shorter than the birth day (31 January plus one month), it clamps to the last day of that month.
The total days are the exact difference between the two dates. Hours are days times 24 and ignore daylight-saving changes, which India does not use.
Good to know
Age is counted in whole years that have passed since the birth date, plus the months and days after the last birthday. The calculator handles month lengths and leap years, so it gives the same answer as counting on a calendar.
It is handy for school and exam eligibility, forms that ask for age on a given date, insurance, sports categories and visa applications. People born on 29 February are treated as having their birthday on 28 February in non-leap years, which is the common legal convention in many countries. Check the rule that applies to your form.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work for a past or future date?
Yes. Change "Age on this date". It is handy for checking an eligibility cut-off such as "age as on 1 January".
Is my date of birth stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
Why is today blank before the page loads?
The page fills in today's date from your device clock when it opens.
