How it works

Cropping removes the parts of a photo you do not need and sets its shape. Social platforms prefer particular shapes: square or 4:5 for Instagram posts, 9:16 for stories and reels, 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and 1.91:1 for link previews. Choosing a ready shape keeps the crop box locked to that ratio while you move and resize it.

The cropped file is made from your original pixels at full quality, with no resizing unless you set a width limit. Rotation and flips are applied before you crop. Everything is processed by your browser, so private photos and ID pictures are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. It copies the selected pixels. Quality only changes if you save as JPG or WebP with a lower quality setting, or set a smaller width.

Can I crop to an exact size?

Yes. Type the crop width or height in pixels. With a fixed shape the other side follows.

Does it work with HEIC photos from an iPhone?

Not yet. Export the photo as JPG first, or share it from your phone as "Most Compatible".

Is my photo uploaded?

No.
