Passport size photos are needed everywhere in India: passport and visa applications, PAN and Aadhaar updates, exam admit forms, bank accounts, SIM cards and job joining kits. The rules differ slightly by document, and getting them wrong means a rejected form or another trip to the studio.

How to use it
- Add a photo. Use a recent, front-facing photo against a plain wall in good light.
- Pick the size and align. Choose the format, then zoom and move until the face fills the oval guide.
- Download. Download a single photo at 300 DPI or a 6 × 4 inch print sheet.
Photo rules that cause most rejections
- Background: plain white or off-white, no patterns or shadows.
- Face size: the head (chin to top of hair) should fill roughly 70–80 percent of the photo height. Use the zoom slider until the face fills the oval guide.
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, both eyes open, looking straight at the camera.
- No glasses glare, caps or filters. Religious head coverings are usually allowed if the face is fully visible.
- Recent photo taken in the last six months.
Printing at home or a shop
Download the 6 × 4 inch print sheet and print it as a normal 4R photo at any photo lab or kiosk. Select “actual size” or “100%”, not “fit to page”. Each photo comes out at the exact size, with grey cut lines.
Need a small file for an online form?
Set a maximum KB value (for example 50) and the photo is compressed to fit while keeping the exact pixel size. For other limits use compress image to 50 KB or 20 KB. To cut out a busy background first, try the AI background remover.
