Quick capture

Capture the thought before it escapes

The idea arrives mid sentence in a meeting. By the time you have opened the right app and clicked through a date picker, it is gone.

Short answer

Open Quick capture and type it the way you would say it. Review the deck next Tuesday 9am !high #marketing becomes a note titled Review the deck, dated next Tuesday at 09:00, marked high priority and tagged marketing.

Forms are where good ideas go to die

Every field between you and a captured thought is a chance to lose it. Title, then a date picker, then a priority dropdown, then tags. Four interactions for something you could have said in four words.

So people stop capturing. The thought goes into working memory instead, which is already full, and by the end of the meeting it has quietly gone.

Typing one line removes the friction entirely, because the sentence you would have said out loud is already the input.

How to do it

  1. Open Quick capture from the tools dock

It sits with the other board tools and opens in a floating panel over your work.

  2. Type the thought the way you would say it

Dates, times, priorities and tags can all sit in the sentence. A live preview shows exactly what will be created before you commit.

  3. Press Enter

The note lands on the board, colour coded by priority, with the date resolved to a real day.

  4. Keep going

The field clears and stays focused, so a run of thoughts goes down as fast as you can type them.

What you actually get. A sticky note on the board carrying the cleaned up title, the resolved date and time, and your tags. Priority sets the note colour, so urgency is visible from across the room.

Worth knowing before you start

It understands English date phrasing only, and it is a parser rather than an AI, so it will not infer anything you did not write. That is deliberate: it means the result is identical every time and works with no network connection. It also means next Tuesday and Tuesday mean different things, which is exactly what you want.

Common questions

What date phrases work?

today, tonight, tomorrow, a weekday on its own, next plus a weekday, in three days, in two weeks, in one month, and calendar dates like 25 dec or dec 1. Times work as 9am or 14:30.

What is the difference between Tuesday and next Tuesday?

Tuesday means the next one coming. Next Tuesday skips to the following week. Typed on a Monday, Tuesday means tomorrow and next Tuesday means eight days away.

How do I set priority and tags?

Add !high, !med or !low anywhere in the line, and any number of hashtags. Priority sets the note colour.

Does it use AI or send my text anywhere?

Neither. It is a parser running in your browser, so it is instant, private and works offline.

Can I still edit the note afterwards?

Yes. It is an ordinary note on the board once created, so you can edit, move, frame and export it like anything else.

Catch the thought at the speed you had it

One line, one Enter, and it is on the board with the date already right.
