Frames: give a sprawling board a spine
Every board that gets real use eventually sprawls. Frames are how you put a structure over that sprawl without throwing any of it away.
Select anything and press Cmd G to draw a frame around it. Frames become presentation stops, slide boundaries on export, and document headings. Shift Cmd G releases a frame and leaves its contents exactly where they are.
Why sections beat folders
A board earns its keep by letting related things sit near each other. Folders break that, because the moment work is filed away it stops being visible, and visibility was the point.
Frames add structure without hiding anything. A framed section still sits in the room with everything else, it just now has a name and an edge.
That edge is what makes the rest possible. Presenting, exporting to slides and exporting to headings all need to know where one idea ends.
How to do it
Select the things that belong together
Marquee drag around them, or shift click to build the selection piece by piece.
Press Cmd G
A frame appears around the selection. You can also use the Frame button in the board toolbar or the right click menu.
Name it
The name is what appears as a slide title on export and as a heading in a Word document, so name it the way you would say it aloud.
Release it with Shift Cmd G if you change your mind
Only the frame is removed. Everything inside stays exactly where it was.
Worth knowing before you start
Frame membership is geometric, meaning a frame contains whatever currently sits inside its bounds. Drag a note out and it leaves the frame. That keeps frames predictable and means releasing a frame can never delete your work, but it also means a frame is not a permanent container you can lock things into.

Are frames the same as groups?
They serve that purpose here. Because membership is geometric rather than a fixed list, releasing a frame never removes what is inside it.
What is the keyboard shortcut?

Does moving a frame move its contents?
Yes. Dragging the frame carries everything inside it.
Can frames overlap?
They can, though overlapping frames make export order ambiguous, so keeping them distinct gives cleaner slides and documents.

There is no fixed limit. Each frame becomes one slide on export, so the practical limit is how long a deck you want.
