How to use this tool

  1. Choose whether to convert CGPA to a percentage, a percentage to CGPA, or combine semester SGPAs.
  2. Enter your CGPA out of 10, or your percentage, or one line per semester with SGPA and credits.
  3. Pick the conversion formula your university uses (CBSE, simple, VTU or your own multiplier).
  4. Read the percentage and copy it for your application.

How it works

CBSE: percentage = CGPA × 9.5
Simple: percentage = CGPA × 10
VTU: percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10
Overall CGPA = sum of (SGPA × credits) ÷ sum of credits

There is no single official conversion. CBSE publishes 9.5 for its 10-point grades, VTU publishes the 0.75 offset, and many universities have their own table. Always follow the rule printed on your marksheet or the form you are filling.

Good to know

Universities do not all convert grades the same way. A common rule in India multiplies a 10-point CGPA by 9.5, while others use a different multiplier or a table, and some use 10 times the CGPA. Applications abroad often ask for the official conversion printed by your institution, so use this tool as an estimate unless your university says otherwise.

To find a CGPA from semester results, the calculator weights each SGPA by the credits of that semester. Enter the credits if semesters differ, because a simple average of SGPAs is only correct when the credits are equal.
