500 KB is the usual limit when a portal expects longer documents: a full set of marksheets, a project report, a property document or a tender form. It is also a polite size for email, since many inboxes and mobile networks struggle with multi-megabyte attachments.
With 500 KB to share, each page gets a generous budget, so even ten scanned pages stay clearly readable. The tool renders pages at good resolution and lowers image quality only as much as needed.
How to use it
- Choose your PDF. Drop the PDF into the box or tap to browse.
- Keep or change the target. The target is preset to 500 KB. Pick another limit if the form needs it.
- Download. When the size shows under your limit, download the new PDF.
Good uses for 500 KB
- Multi-page application bundles (certificates plus ID plus photo).
- Assignments and reports for college portals.
- Quotations or invoices sent by email or WhatsApp.
Need smaller?
For stricter forms use 200 KB or 100 KB. If you only need a bit smaller, try 1 MB, which keeps even more detail. To merge several PDFs first, open PDF tools and choose Merge.
How the 500 KB target works
Text-only PDFs are already small, so most oversized PDFs are big because of scanned images. The tool opens your PDF with PDF.js, draws each page onto a canvas, and saves it as an optimised JPEG. It gives every page a share of the 500 KB budget, builds the new PDF with jsPDF, then measures the real file. If it is still over the limit it lowers the budget in proportion and tries again, up to five times. Page size and order stay exactly as in the original.
Troubleshooting
- Password-protected PDF? Remove the password first with Unlock in PDF tools (you need to know the password).
- Very long PDF on a phone? Large files use a lot of memory. Use a computer or split the PDF.
- Blurry result? Remove extra pages or choose a larger target if the form allows it.
- Portal says the file is damaged? Download again and make sure the name ends in .pdf with no spaces.
Email and WhatsApp friendly
Gmail allows 25 MB attachments, but many office mail servers, school portals and mobile networks struggle with anything over a few megabytes. A 500 KB PDF opens instantly in WhatsApp, previews on slow 3G and doesn't fill the recipient's storage. For quotations, assignments and reports that people will mainly read on screen, 500 KB is plenty.
Private by design
There is no upload step and no account. The page loads the tool, and your browser does the work on your own device. That is why it is fast on good connections and still works if the network drops after the page has loaded. We don't see your files, photos, numbers or IDs, and we don't ask for your email.

Drop it above. The tool rebuilds the PDF to fit under 500 KB and shows you the final size.
Will a 20-page PDF fit in 500 KB?
Usually, with readable text. Image-heavy pages may come out softer.

No. Pages are stored as images. Keep the original for editing.
Do you keep a copy of my PDF?
No. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
Does it add a watermark?
No.
