How to use this tool
- Click Open the editor.
- Open a photo from the File menu, or drag it onto the canvas.
- Add layers, text or shapes, crop or resize, and try the filters in the Effects and Image menus.
- Choose File, then Export, pick PNG, JPG or WebP and download.
How it works
Sometimes a photo needs more than a crop: a caption, a logo in the corner, a brighter look or two pictures side by side. This editor gives you layers, text, filters, crop and resize in one place, right in your browser. Open a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, stack new layers on top, move and resize them, and type text where you need it. When it looks right, use File, then Export to save it as PNG, JPG or WebP.
There is nothing to install and no account to make. The editor files are hosted by BeginThings and load only when you click Open the editor. Editing happens on your device and the editor makes no requests to other sites, so private photos and client work are never uploaded. Text uses the fonts already on your device. The editor is built on miniPaint, used under the MIT licence; see the third-party notices.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Editing happens in your browser and the editor makes no outside requests. Open in BeginRooms only opens the BeginRooms sign-up page; it does not send your image.
Which formats can I open and export?
You can open common image formats such as JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF, and export as PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP or TIFF. Choose PNG to keep a transparent background.
Can I work with layers?
Yes. Add, reorder, hide and delete layers, and put text or another image on its own layer so you can move it without touching the photo underneath.
Will exporting reduce quality?
PNG keeps every pixel. JPG and WebP make smaller files, and a lower quality setting makes them smaller still. Resizing down also reduces detail.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Use Edit, then Undo, or press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) to step back through your recent edits.
Can I use my own fonts?
Text uses the fonts installed on your device. The editor does not download web fonts.
