PSD viewer

Drop a PSD file to see the whole design, browse its layers and save the ones you need as PNG. The file stays on this device.

1. Choose a PSD file

Or drop the file here. It is read on this device and never uploaded.

Need to review it with a client or reuse the layers?

Save the layers you need as PNG, then open BeginRooms to put them on a board next to the brief, feedback and tasks. The 11-day trial needs no card, and this viewer stays free.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a .psd or .psb file, or drop it on the box.
  2. Look at the preview and the layer list on the right.
  3. Use the eye buttons to hide or show layers and groups.
  4. Download the preview, or one layer, as a PNG.

How it works

A client sends a PSD and you only need to check the design or pull out one image. This viewer opens the file in your browser, with no design software and no account. You see a preview of the whole design and a list of every layer and group, so you can find the logo, the background or the product shot by name. Text layers show their wording with a Copy text button, so you can copy a headline without retyping it. Save the preview, or any single layer, as a PNG with its transparency kept.

The file is read on your device and is never uploaded. The reader (ag-psd, MIT licence) is hosted by BeginThings and loads only after you choose a file. Files up to 150 MB can be opened; bigger files can be more than a browser tab can hold. See the third-party notices.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need design software to open a PSD?

No. The viewer reads the PSD file format directly in your browser.

Can I edit the PSD here?

No. This tool is for viewing and exporting. You can hide or show layers, read and copy text layers and save layers or the preview as PNG.

Why does my file look slightly different from the original?

The visible-layers preview is built from each layer’s pixels. Layer effects, adjustment layers, masks on groups and some blend modes may not look exactly as they did in the program that made it. Switch to Saved preview to see the flattened image stored in the file.

Is there a size limit?

Yes, 150 MB per file. Larger files can run out of browser memory. Save a smaller copy from the original program if yours is bigger.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It is read on your device and not sent anywhere. Open in BeginRooms only opens the BeginRooms sign-up page; it does not send your file.
