200 KB is a common limit for certificates, caste and income certificates, experience letters and other supporting documents on application portals, and a handy size for email attachments and blog images. At 200 KB a typical 12 MP phone photo can keep most of its resolution, so text and faces stay sharp.
The tool finds the highest JPEG quality that fits under 200 KB. Because the budget is generous, dimensions rarely need to change, so a document photographed at full resolution stays readable when zoomed.
How to use it
- Choose your image. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP photo or signature into the box, or tap to pick one.
- Keep or change the target. The target is preset to 200 KB. Change it if your form asks for a different limit.
- Download. Check the final size and dimensions, then download the JPG.
Best uses for a 200 KB image
- Document uploads where the portal says “max 200 KB”.
- Blog and website images: 200 KB is a reasonable ceiling for a full-width photo; for faster pages convert to WebP with JPG to WebP.
- Email and chat: smaller attachments send faster and do not fill inboxes.
Many pages? Make one PDF
If the portal wants several pages in one file, put your images into a single PDF with JPG to PDF under 200 KB, or compress an existing PDF with compress PDF to 200 KB.
How the 200 KB target works
JPEG file size depends on two things: how many pixels the image has and how much detail is kept per pixel (the quality setting). The tool tries the highest quality first. If the file is bigger than 200 KB, it uses a binary search, testing a quality halfway between the last good and bad values, so it finds the best setting in about eight quick tries. Only if even a low quality cannot reach 200 KB does it shrink the width and height by about 18 percent and search again. The result is the sharpest file that still fits.
If the portal still rejects the file
- Wrong format: rename nothing by hand. Download again; the file is a real JPG with a .jpg extension.
- Dimension rule: some forms check width and height as well as KB. Crop or resize to the stated pixels, then compress.
- Too small: if a minimum size is given, choose a slightly larger target from the list above.
- Browser cache: after replacing a file, refresh the form page before uploading again.
Private by design
There is no upload step and no account. The page loads the tool, and your browser does the work on your own device. That is why it is fast on good connections and still works if the network drops after the page has loaded. We don't see your files, photos, numbers or IDs, and we don't ask for your email.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce image size to 200 KB?
Drop your image above. It is compressed to just under 200 KB and you download a JPG.
Will text in my document stay readable?
Usually yes. At 200 KB most document photos keep their full resolution.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, compression runs locally, so a brief connection drop will not stop it.
Can I convert PNG to JPG under 200 KB?
Yes. PNG and WebP inputs are accepted and saved as JPG.
Is there a watermark?
No. There is no watermark, no signup and no limit.
