Is this PDF tool really free?

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Merging, splitting, compressing and converting all run in your browser using JavaScript (pdf-lib, PDF.js, jsPDF and JSZip). The page loads those libraries from beginthings.com, and your file contents are not uploaded to BeginThings or anyone else for processing.
How do I merge PDF files for free?
Open Merge PDF, add two or more PDFs, put them in the order you want, then press “Merge & download”. You get one combined PDF; the text and quality of each page are unchanged.
How can I reduce PDF file size?
Use Compress PDF and pick Strong, Balanced or Light. It re-renders each page as a compressed image, which works best on scanned or image-heavy PDFs. The text in the result is no longer selectable, so keep your original.
How do I convert a PDF to JPG?
Open PDF to JPG / PNG, choose the format, DPI and page range, and download. Each page becomes its own image, packed in a ZIP when there is more than one page.
Can I turn photos into a PDF?
Yes. Images to PDF accepts JPG, PNG and WebP, lets you choose page size, orientation and margins, and saves them as one PDF.
Does it work on a phone and offline?
It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. You need a connection the first time so the PDF libraries can load; after that, processing happens on your device.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files are limited by your device’s memory, so a 300-page scan may be slow on an older phone.
How do I merge PDFs on a phone?

Can I merge only some pages, or reorder pages?
Yes. Use Split / extract pages to keep only the pages you need (for example “1-3, 7”), Organize PDF to drag pages into a new order, and Delete pages to drop the rest.
How can I check that my file isn’t uploaded?
Open your browser’s developer tools, choose the Network tab and run a tool. You’ll see the library downloads from beginthings.com, but no request that sends your file.
